Ganglion cysts are a lump that appears on tendons or joints. Often they will appear on hands or the foot. The cyst contains fluid and can vary in size. What are the causes? Ganglion cysts will occur when there is a build-up of fluid in the joint, or in the tissue surrounding the tendons in your hand or foot. The fluid can build-up because you have injured or over-used the joint. There are factors associated with ganglion cysts:
Gender – Ganglion cysts are more frequently found in females that are between twenty and forty.
Existing medical conditions – If you suffer from osteoarthritis then you are at a higher risk of ganglion cysts
Injuries – If you have previously injured a joint, or a tendon, then this will increase your risk.
Is there a home remedy for ganglion cyst?
One treatment for ganglion cysts is to apply essential oils twice a day. Pure frankincense oil is ideal as it has anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties. Three treatments a day of apple cider can also be very helpful. Soak a cotton ball in one tablespoon of apple cider mixed with a quarter cup of water. and place it on the cyst and leave for 30 minutes. You can use black tea to restore the pH of the cyst, reduce inflammation and pain, and assist in faster healing. Just place a black tea bag on the cysts and leave for 30 minutes. Dilute around half a cup Epsom salts into a small bucket of warm water and bathe the cyst for fifteen to twenty minutes.
